Loudoun Mains is situated in a commanding position on the hills overlooking the lush green rolling pastures of the Irvine Valley. Loudoun Mains farm was originally the Home Farm of Loudoun Castle Estate, with links going back many hundreds of years. Now, its has been thoughtfully converted over a 20 year period into 11 luxurious self catering holiday cottages and an extremely well equipped Country Club with gyms and a swimming pool.

Loudoun Mains has 11 self-catering holiday cottages on site ranging in size from 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom units. All our cottages form part of terraced blocks or are apartments either on the ground floor or 1st floor and have a fantastic view over the Ayrshire countryside. They all have access to our extensive grounds where wildlife abounds especially around the small fishing pond, we have a fantastic kiddies play area with a tree house, swings and slides etc and of course we have the Country Club.

Country Club

Loudoun Mains Country Club is a private members only club available free of charge to all cottage guests on holiday. It comprises of a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, cardiovascular gym, full weights/resistance room and a rest lounge.

Things To Do in the area

At Loudoun Mains we have recently intoduced a mini farm park with Pygmy Goats, Chickens, Pheasants, Ducks and Lambs all of whom love to be hand fed with anything from stale bread to apples and small packets of food can be purchased from reception. Our happy, friendly organic free range chickens lay the most delicious eggs immaginable and if your luck you may be able to buy some from reception if they haven't already been sold.

Our small pond has been fully stocked with Carp and Tench and is definately fishable. Both young and old, experienced and inexperienced seem to love it and all have a great time away from it all but still close to home. The area around the pond is teeming with wildlife too and everything from frogs to insects, water voles to herons have been spotted. The swallows and house martins love to swoop down and pick up water in their beaks to make mud for their nests, and the wild ducks love to tease our tame ones with their laughter like quacking.

The childrens play area has a two tier tree house which is used by all children under 14 as a fort, den, castle even a bunk house! The five different swings and rope ladder keep even the most enthusiastic monkeys amused and the corkscrew slide seems to keep their attention for hours on end, picnics and BBQ's around the swing park are great fun.

The surrounding countryside is rich in wild life and country walks abound try www.east-ayrshire.gov.uk/ivrp/pathsnetwork.htm. The paths networks around the immediate countryside are really quite extensive and allow for walking, riding and cycling for all ages and disciplines.

Golf is more a way of life rather than a sport and we have more than 30 golf courses within 30 minutes drive from Loudoun Mains - 2 of which are open championship courses (Troon and Prestwick) and of course Loch Lomond and Turnberry are less than 1hour away, try www.roodleahouse.com or www.loudoungowfclub.co.uk which is only 5 mins from Loudoun Mains.

Kids soft play at Juniper Jungle 5 mins away provides a welcome rest for busy parents and the foods great too.
